The BVI Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival is one of the largest regattas in the Caribbean. The aqua waters around the British Virgin Islands in the northern Caribbean, attracts over 100 yachts and sailors, friends and families from around the world. 18 classes and three race areas allow all participants exclusive races depending on wind, waters and conditions.

The 42-nautical mile race is open to boats of all types, whether or not entered in Antigua Sailing Week. For those who are entered, it provides an opportunity for crews to get to know each other better both on and off the water. For boats not entered in Antigua Sailing Week, the Guadeloupe to Antigua race is a fun event. In fact, it is an ideal race for Caribbean cruisers who want to have some fun but don’t want to race around the cans. There are no marks in the race – simply a start line and a finish line. So boats of all types are welcome and encouraged to participate.

The Round Antigua Race has been exciting and popular with many Antigua Sailing Week participants for many years. In 2012 it was re-introduced in a new format which saw it become an optional race open to all yachts, whether or not entered in Antigua Sailing Week. It is held on the Saturday before Antigua Sailing Week begins.

In April, yachts from all over the world will arrive in Antigua to participate in the one of the world’s major sailing events and the granddaddy of Caribbean regattas. From small beginnings this regatta has developed over the past 47 years to become one of the preeminent yacht racing events in the Caribbean and one of the most prestigious in the world. Over 100 yachts participate every year ranging in size from 24 feet to over 100 feet. The Regatta attracts everything from serious racing boats including state-of-the-art, high-tech racing machines to a variety of performance cruising and cruising boats.
